I am partial to historical novels. Those with an Asian slant are among my favorites. I have enjoyed Lisa See's work and notice she likewise endorses this novel by Tsukiyama.
It paints wonderful Oriental scapes and delves intelligently into customs and traditions of 18th century Japan.
Love, loss, jealousy, ambition, family ties and breaks...it's all here nestled among the sensual landscapes and tea room gossip...enjoy!
