JAMIE AND CLAIRE 2

DRAGONFLY IN AMBER ***

DIANA GABALDON

Okay, here we go...number two in the Outlander series, and Ms. Gabaldon picks right up keeping you immersed in the characters and the continuation of a story you never wanted to see end anyway!

I had the pleasure of talking with Diana Gabaldon recently and was delighted at her expressed love and committment to her creation. Diana is quite funny and at the same time, quite serious about the thoroughness of her depictions in The Outlander series. Take a listen to our discussion on the link provided here.

Jamie and Claire are back in Dragonfly...and on the move! There is a tempo of urgency right away in this volume. The couple are running, standing, stealthfully engaged in altering historical events, and still holding love's torch!

You like romance? Some of the steamiest, most intelligent romance I've ever read.
You like History? Gabaldon delivers, facts and descriptive prose to take you there!
You want adventure? Buckle Up!
Fantasy? Two words: Time Travel

It's difficult to even categorize Diana Gabaldon's work...so I don't even try...rather, I just enjoy her creations as new friends the stories are my unscheduled vacations! Check it out and post comments and thoughts!

Finished the book...loved it...need a rest! Diana Gabaldon is an incredible story teller...she puts it all in there! She might exhaust you if you are a reader who likes a quick "wrap"...a tidy finish...a satisfying grasp of the story that you can easily recall. Not gonna happen here. Not only will Gabaldon leave you exhausted...but she will be MOST un-tidy in the process. This is the stuff sagas are made of...it's not going to wrap up neatly, it's not going to be expedient...however...SATISFYING...? YES. It will be all of this. If you like the complete disclosure of characters and settings...if you want to smell the peat fires of 1846...if you want to taste the raw, unsophisticated swill of peasant wine...if you want to feel the pain of a pregnancy gone bad, or a sexual encounter gone incredibly, and compassionatley good...Diane Gabaldon gets it...gives it...and from all indications, intends to keep giving it.
