Bless Me Ultima
Rudolfo Anaya
Our daughter and son-in-law, plus 2 of our grandchildren are currently living deep in Mexico. In fact, a few hours south of what you might know as Mexico City. We, therefore, have an above average interest in "sponging" up the culture and the language!
Generally, we are in the mode of learning and growing anyway, but this latest family development has definitely shaped our focus!
Jeanne has been attending Spanish classes locally with Bill Dehnen (Capital High School Adult Education) for sometime. It was easy for her to pick Bill's brain for great literature and language instruction. This book is one of His suggestions. Jeanne read it and really enjoyed the story...I am starting it now.
It is written in English, with plenty of Spanish phrasiology thrown in to tease the learner...I think the story and the work stands alone, without need of being a "text" offering for eager students of the Spanish and/or Mexican culture. We'll see.
